Concert Band & Orchestra
Students enrolled in concert band and/or orchestra will have the opportunity to improve their musical skills through listening to, studying, and performing music in a variety of styles. Grades are determined based on daily participation, skill quizzes, weekly practice, attendance at performances, and willingness to positively contribute to our school’s musical community. Performances include fall, winter, and spring concerts as well as regular opportunities to perform during all-school masses.

Choir
Students enrolled in choir will have the opportunity to improve their vocal performance and sight-singing skills through listening to, studying, and performing both contemporary and traditional choir music. Students will be expected to sing in two and three-part harmony. Grades are determined based on daily participation, skill quizzes, weekly practice, attendance at performances, and willingness to positively contribute to our school’s musical community. Performances include fall, winter, and spring concerts as well as regular opportunities to perform during all-school masses.

Guitar
Students in this class will learn the fundamentals of guitar playing including strumming, fingerpicking, and simple chord progressions. This class is designed to teach students how to play music in a variety of different styles, cover popular songs, and write their own original music. Grades are determined based on daily participation, skill development, weekly practice,  attendance at performances, and willingness to positively contribute to our school’s musical community. Performances include fall, winter, and spring concerts as well as regular opportunities to perform during all-school masses. No previous musical experience is required! 

Piano
Students enrolled in this course will learn music fundamentals (including note and rhythm reading) and piano performance skills through the study of various musical compositions. Grades are determined based on daily participation, skill quizzes, weekly practice, attendance at performances, and willingness to positively contribute to our school’s musical community. Performances include fall, winter, and spring concerts as well as regular opportunities to perform during all-school masses. No previous musical experience is required! 
 

Art Appreciation
This class will study various topics in art history and the trends of different time periods. Students will learn basics of drawing which include the study of line, form, space, composition, and value. Students will also learn to use various mediums such as pen and ink, color pencil, pastels, and watercolor. The subject matter will include still life arrangements and other matter.

Art I
This class will introduce the student to the basic fundamentals of drawing which include the study of line, form, space, composition, and value. Students will also learn to use various mediums such as pen and ink, color pencil, pastels, and watercolor. The subject matter will include still life arrangements and other subject matter.

Advanced Art
A course designed for the self-motivated art student who wants to further his exploration of media and design possibilities. Each student works at his/her own pace, and must constantly create and improve. Specific assignments that are assigned are required. A sketch is required each week. A semester project will be required for a semester exam. Prerequisites: “B” in Art I and signature of instructor.

3-D Art I & II
This class is designed to let each student develop skills with clay, including problems in ceramic design and construction. This will include glaze preparation, clay body preparation, and kiln firing and techniques. Students will be using various materials other than clay to develop and learn various 3-D concepts. Students will also learn to develop their own individual style through the study of the history of pottery and ceramics.

Theatre Arts I/II (Drama)
The purpose of Theatre Arts class covers three basic areas: performance, stagecraft, and theatre history. In performance-based activities, the purpose is to train and develop the skills of the student actor in a single performance, in a duet performance, and in a small group performance. The performance skills include movement and diction, character analysis, script analysis and reader’s theatre. In stagecraft based activities, the purpose is to gain an understanding of the necessary skills needed to produce a play by taking responsibilities for various concentrated areas of three all-school productions. The stagecraft skills include costuming, make-up, scenery and properties, lighting and sound and production management. Finally, in the study of theatre history, students will study and analyze a history of Greek, Renaissance, Elizabethan, Modern and Realism theatre. Although this is performance-based course, it is also an academic course in which students who are interested in theatre are given the opportunity to develop their basic skills of theatre performance, production, and history.
